KINGSTON, Jamaica – The sixth race of eleven on the Saturday offering of May 13, 2023, is Division One of a three-year-old maiden call, in which 11 horses are entered.
Of the lot 11 starters, five are first-time starters, with word swirling around that these newbies will have a significant say in the final outcome.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis of this 5 ½ furlong contest is provided below.
1 – ROARING THUNDER is a grey colt (April 16) by Spieth out of Little Thunder, trained by Gary Griffiths with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. This grey colt has finished second in the last two runs of 13. Roaring Thunder is the most experienced of the 11 entered, and therefore cannot be denied a real chance of winning.
2 – MONEY MISER is a chestnut colt (March 16) by Soul Warrior out of She’s Traditional, trained by Fitzroy Glispie with Reyan Lewis aboard. One of the five first-time starters, who has caught the eyes of morning onlookers. This well-bred colt's chances are enhanced by the presence of the leading rider.
3 – MO AVIATOR is a bay colt (April 26) by Northern Giant out of Black Magic, trained by Jason DaCosta with Phillip Parchment aboard. Showed speed on February 22 (6 ½ furlongs), faltering in the final furlong. With the distance reduced, Mo Aviator can earn.
4 – MONEY MARKET is a bay colt (April 6) by Successful Native out of Soca Dancer, trained by Ryan Darby with Paul Francis aboard. Money Market is from a particularly good stock that is making his debut. Railbirds are reporting that Money Market has speed and will be on the front end of this one.
5 – ALTITUDE is a bay colt (April 3) by Strikewhileitshot by Miracle River, trained by Patrick Fong with Charlton Riley aboard. First timer in need of time to develop.
6 – STEIN is a bay colt (April 20) by Bern Identity out of Ruby Rose, trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. This newcomer is said to progressing in the mornings at exercise. While a winning effort is not expected, he will be among the decision-makers.
7 – JAMES is a bay colt (March 28) by Sensational Slam out of Crown Princess, trained by Spencer Chung with Omar Walker aboard. Was seen running on strongly when he first faced the starter going five furlongs round 21 days ago. James comes from a patient barn, and with the experienced gained, has to be beaten in this one.
8 – VELIKI VICKI is a roan filly (February 19) by Bold Conquest out of Sweetyourock, trained by Rowan Mathie with Youville Pinnock aboard. Note, Veliki Vicki races with the blinkers on. Has no realistic chance of winning.
9 – ESSENTIAL QUALITY is a chestnut filly (April 16) by Sensational Slam out of Texas Missy, trained by Oral Hayden with Tevin Foster aboard. Finished fourth on debut way back in January of this year. Then Essential Quality showed speed, with reports from the mornings indicating that this filly has shown improvement, and is ready for battle from in front.
10 – MONEY BOX is a bay colt (April 22) by Soul Warrior out of Trinket Box, trained by Gary Subratie with Richard Henry in the saddle. Money Box is a half-brother to acclaimed performer Calculus. This alone is sufficient to give Money Box an outsider’s chance of winning.
11 – LITTLE MISS NISHA is a chestnut filly (April 19) by Traditional out of Simply Classic, trained by Winston Morris with Omar Simpson aboard. Note, Little Miss Nisha races with the blinkers on. The racing learning curve continues for this filly.
