KINGSTON, Jamaica – The eighth event on Saturday, May 13, 2023, is a three-year-old maiden call (Division Two) at 5 ½ furlongs.
Eleven maidens are entered to compete, with The Quick Galloper’s assessment published below.
– MYSTIX CAT is a bay filly (March 1) by Silent Valor out of Medical Cat, trained by Carl Anderson with Sadiki Blake aboard. Comes to the wicket for the third occasion, without anything to show for her exploits. Expect another mediocre effort from Mystix Cat.
– LADY ABHIMALA is a chestnut filly (March 8) by Legal Process out of Lady Abhijita with Romario Spencer aboard. This first-timer will benefit from the outing.
– PRINCE DANIEL is a bay colt (March 27) by Savoy Stomp out of Smarty Marty, trained by Colin Ferguson with Tevin Foster aboard. Note, Prince Daniel races with the blinkers and tongue tie on. Prince Daniel was way off in his debut run on April 15. Don’t anticipate anything better in this one.
– SMOKIN LADY is a bay filly (March 11) by Smokin Man out of Miss Boss Lady, trained by Anthony Smith with Andree Powell in the saddle. Smokin Lady has faced the starter twice, showing improvement in her second without rattling any feathers. Smokin Lady has a chance among these to earn for the first time.
– SLAM DUNK is a bay colt (March 9) by Sensational Slam out of Akela, trained by Gary Subratie with Anthony Thomas aboard. Slam Dunk was an entrant in the abandoned first race on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Slam Dunk gets an even better opportunity of getting win number one, especially given his consistency to date.
– SMOOTH AVIATOR is a bay colt (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Classy Aviator, trained by Jason DaCosta with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. Has some speed, usually giving way in the latter part of his races. Can be a part of the exotics.
– DIGITAL LIGHT is a bay filly (January 14) by Wannabeaplayer out of Morning Grace, trained by Gary Griffiths with Youville Griffiths aboard. Coming to come, not ready as yet, will get close.
– HERE COMES KEN is a bay colt (February 16) by Here Comes Ben out of Sparkling Michaela, trained by Winston Morris with Paul Francis in the saddle. Note, Here Comes Ben races with the blinkers on and the cheek pieces on. Here Comes Ken returns from a long break of 126 days. Needs the run after such a long absence.
– FORREST JOE is a bay colt (April 30) by Casual Trick out of Gaga Lady, trained by Ryan Darby with Odeen Edwards. Forrest Joe has been declared a late non-starter.
– I AM INTERESTED is a bay colt (April 18) by Wannabeaplayer out of Back At You, trained by Joseph Thomas with George Samuda aboard. A newbie, out for the learning experience.
– PHENOMENAL ONE is a chestnut colt (March 31) by Lion Tamer out of Darlin, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis. From his five starts to date, Phenomenal One has shown nothing of much significance. Reports from the mornings indicate that this chestnut colt has been moving well, with a much better effort anticipated by his connections.
