KINGSTON, Jamaica – The tenth of eleven races on Saturday, May 13, 2023, is an Overnight Allowance call honoring Yvonne Mattis. The distance is one which has not appeared on the racing programme for a while, nine furlongs out of the chute.

The Quick Galloper’s analysis of the 10 horses entered to race in this trophy event is published below in post-position order.

1 – SECRET TRAVELLER is essentially a top claimer, and as such cannot be considered for a winning effort.

2 – D HEAD CORNERSTONE has been finding it difficult since reaching Overnight Allowance. That trend will continue on Saturday. Note, D Head Cornerstone races with the visor and tongue tie on.

3 - GAMBLER is finding it difficult to deal with Overnight Allowance.

 - DADDY JONES returns to this grade after three consecutive wins in the claiming ranks. Daddy Jones always gives his best when allowed to dictate the pace. Now reverting to Overnight, Daddy Jones comes up against some known speed and will find it testing handling these. Plus, nine furlongs out of the shoot might be too much for Daddy Jones.

5 – BERN NOTICE not for the first time is moving up from claiming to Overnight. It is well-known that Bern Notice prefers to lead or be close to the pace in his races. Now its Overnight Allowance, with others entered with the same racing identity. Bern Notice will influence the outcome and is good for a place on the board if nothing else.

6 – CRIMSON is finding it difficult as he gets on at seven years to reproduce his form displayed in the earlier part of his career. On Saturday (May 13, 2023), Crimson races with the visor on, and with the distance right up his street, is given one more opportunity of adding win number nine of his 61-race career. Note, Crimson races with the visor on.

7 – BIG BIG DADDY is a participant in all of the recent parties hosted at the Overnight level. He has consistently earned for his connections, however, nine furlongs is going to prove taking for Big Big Daddy.

8 – STOMP THE RHYTHM enters Overnight after completing his conditions six days back. This is a rather quick turnaround for this four-year-old, with a likeness to set the early splits. Stomp The Rhythm, although developing well, will have to get accustomed to this new grade.

9 – MARQUESAS is having issues dealing with Overnight, but will find the distance much to his liking. Might earn a place in the top four finishers.

10 – MINIATURE MAN in out and out in his recent outings. As one of the younger entrants in this one, Miniature Man is given a good chance of winning with the distance posing no threat.
