KINGSTON, Jamaica – Division One of a three-year-old maiden contest going four furlongs is the first of ten races on the card of Sunday, Amy 7, 2023, at Caymanas Park.
Nine horses are entered in this quick sprint. The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the nine entered is provided below.
1 – VELIKI VICKI is a roan filly (February 19) by Bold Conquest out of Sweetyourock, trained by Rowan Mathie with Youville Picnnock aboard. Note, Veliki Vicki races with the blinkers off.
2 – CAPTAIN CALICO is a chestnut colt (April 17) by Soul Warrior out of Rackham’s Mistress, trained by Anthony Nunes with Linton Steadman aboard. Racing for the first occasion, Captain Calico is said to be taking his time in the morning, and is not quite ready to give of his best as yet.
3 – SMOOTH AVIATOR is a bay colt (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Classy Aviator, trained by Jason DaCosta with Shavon Townsend. Smooth Aviator best hope is to go home earning, no chance of winning.
4 – BABLA is a chestnut colt (April 9) by Midnight Hawk out of Jennandrosesgirl trained by Richard Azan with Reyan Lewis aboard. Babla has raced only twice, with his second a fourth place effort behind Electrode at five furlongs straight. Babla has been active at exercise, with many expecting a better run on Sunday.
5 – COSMIC FORCE is a bay colt (April 7) by Savoy Stomp out of Kipling Weekend, trained by Philip Feanny with Bebeto Harvey aboard. From his seven starts to date, Cosmic Force has not shown enough to win this one.
6 – BLINKIN LIGHT is a bay colt (April 12) by Patton Proud out of Storm Girl trained by Gary Griffiths with Oshane Nugent aboard. Note, Blinkin Light races with the blinkers on and the figure eight off. Coming along, and does have an opportunity to earn.
7 – FORREST JOE is a bay colt (April 30) by Casual Trick out of Gaga Lady, trained by Ryan Darby with Odeen Edwards in the saddle. A newcomer, who begins his learning experience in racing.
8 – HERE COMES KEN is a bay colt (February 16) by Here Comes Ben out of Sparkling Michaela trained by Ryan Darby with Paul Francis. Note, Here Comes Ben races with the blinkers on, and the cheek pieces off. This colt has visited the starting gates on four occasions, with nothing much to show for his efforts. Can only hope for a place on the board.
9 – SLAM DUNK is a bay colt (March 9) by Sensational Slam out of Akela, trained by Gary Subratie with Anthony Thomas aboard. Went by the winning post in front on April 9, and was subsequently disqualified. Slam Dunk returned on April 22, when he was pipped on the line by Epic. This race is made for Slam Dunk.
