KINGSTON, Jamaica – The list of top earners up to the race day of Saturday, April 15, 2023, is headed by two horses from the claiming ranks.
Stranger Danger, the once top grade competitor until his career fell in the doldrums due to injuries. After changing hands several times, Stranger Danger has again found a semblance of form, at least, enough to handle claimers.
Stranger Danger has raced six times in 2023, winning on three occasions, second once, and one fourth finish, with earnings of $1.7 million.
Occupying second place on the earnings list is another claimer, Denbigh Life. This seven-year-old has faced the starter seven times, winning three times , with second and third place finishes, for total earnings of over $1.5 million.
Another claimer on the top earners’ list thus far in the 2023 racing season is the nine-year-old Secret Traveller, who is in the seventh spot after accumulating $1.3 million from his six starts to date.
The healthy earning positions of these claimers will not last long, as the three-year-old Classic races get closer.
Already, the progressive filly Bootylicious (number four), and three-year-old colt El Afortunado are the only locally bred three-year-olds currently in the top ten list.
Of the older horses, five-year-old importee, following his two wins from as many starts, and earnings of just over $1.5 million.
