KINGSTON, Jamaica – The third event on Saturday, April 15, 2023, is a three-year-old maiden call at 7 ½ furlongs. Eight horses are entered to compete.
The Quick Galloper analysis is provided for readers to peruse.
1 – LIFE IS LIFE is a bay colt (February 18) by Natural Selection out of Little Wasp trained by Jason DaCosta with Oshane Nugent in the saddle. Has been consistent throughout his seven race career. Life Is Life has raced over the distance at hand before (March 11), showing the tendency to run on. Then he was a bit one paced, yet giving that run, he should be in better trim going into the encounter. Do not leave out Life Is Life from the exacta or the trifecta wagers.
2 – PRINCE DANIEL is a bay colt (March 27) by Savoy Stomp out of Smarty Marty trained by Colin Ferguson with Tevin Foster aboard. Word circulating is that this newcomer has been making waves at exercise. Said to be of good worth, with the connections confident of a noticeable first start. Yet, it is always difficult for a first timer to be fully effective going this long. Time will tell.
3 – VELIKI VICKI is a roan filly (February 19) by Bold Conquest out of Sweetyourock trained by Rowan Mathie with Anthony Thomas aboard. Cannot handle these.
4 – JOBLANE is a bay colt (May 18) by Savoy Stomp out of Patchwork trained by Richard Azan with Omar Walker in the saddle. Highly touted in his two starts to date, Joblane has not produced the goods. He will continue to learn.
5 – HUNTSMAN is a chestnut colt (April 8) by Key To Power out of Dream Point trained by Ian Parsard. Said to be one in the making with some noteworthy exercise spins in his hoofs. Enters the fray well advanced in his preparation and is expected to deliver in this his first start. He will have to be very special to win on debut going 7 ½ furlongs.
6 – ANTARCTICA is a bay colt (April 29) by Savoy Stomp out of Jesse’s Favorite trained by Alford Brown with Trevor Simpson aboard. Has been developing in all of his three starts. Antarctica has already demonstrated the ability to cover a distance of ground thereby making him the ideal candidate to succeed in this one.
7 – CALIFORNIA GOLD is a bay colt (April 6) by Lion Tamer out of Blue Saphira trained by Patrick Lynch with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Will get there but not on Saturday.
8 – SUPERIO is a bay colt (March 27) by Soul Warrior out of Ashtrid trained by Ian Roberts with Paul Francis aboard. Made his debut six days ago with a moderate run. Superio is still in need of more starts to get to his best.
