KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Robert Halledeen has been suspended and fined by the regulatory body of racing in Jamaica, the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC).

At a hearing held today (Tuesday, March 7, 2023) at the offices of the JRC in Kingston, Halledeen was suspended for four race days to begin immediately, and also fined $20,000.

Halledeen’s fine and suspension follows the disqualification of his mount Kissmet in the ninth race on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Kissmet was disqualified and placed out of the fame, with the event awarded to Natural Dancer ridden by Reyan Lewis.

  1. Lives of jockeys are involved here, the penalty is way too small. Dirty riding needs to be stomped out.

  2. This is ridiculous not even 10days wow i really hope the jockeys are paying attention..YOUR LIFE ONLY MERITS A 4 DAY SUSPENSION... Bare corruption top to bottom.

  3. Jockeys at Caymanas are way too negligent.
    Everyone suffers by their negligence.
    Owners, punters,grooms,breeders all suffer monetary losses due to their negligence.
    The penalty is too lenient.
    That penalty will not serve as a deterrent

  4. The incident was unfortunate and yes Jockey's lives are at risk.
    However,we tend to get very emotional and make judgements base upon those moments but from all indications and after many reviews of footage i am of the belief that it was never a dirty ride.
    These infringements occurs frequently in races just that this instance jockeys fell from horses.
