KINGSTON, Jamaica - Trainer Ray Phillips got off the mark for the 2023 racing season after saddling a noticeable double with Rum With Me and Just Move In, who were impressive in their respective races.
Rum With Me, ridden by Roger Hewitt, came from behind to win a three-year-old and upwards claiming ($1 million to $800,000) race over 5 1/2 furlongs (1,100 m). Rum With Me won by a length and a quarter in a time of 1:08.0, ahead of Mister Mandate (Tevin Foster) and Baton Rouge (Richard Lunan).
With Matthew Bennett in the saddle, Just Move In made one move to win a maiden condition race for four-year-olds and upwards over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m). Just Move In was 5 ½ lengths in front of Salud (Chris Mamdeen) and Mickey C (Romario Spencer) in a time of 1:23.4.
