KINGSTON, Jamaica – Although there are only six starters nominated to race in the second call on Saturday, February 11, 2023, an intriguing contest is in the making.
The event see four fillies up against two of the male species in what is a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of four) for local horses and a non-three for foreigners going 7 ½ furlongs.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the six entered is set below in post-position order.
1 – She’s A Friend is completely out of her depth, an obvious filler.
2 – Tekapunt has been a disappointment in recent times as evidenced by his non-performing last three efforts. Despite, his lack of consistency, Tekapunt is known for his running on abilities, and with the distance much more to his liking, Tekapunt is given an outsider’s chance of success.
3 – Sunset Silhoutte is another who has been up and down in her recent outings, and in addition, she in a non-winner of three racing in a non-four.
4 – Our Angel went on a long break after winning the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks (fillies only) on August 7, 2022. Returned on January 28, 2023, and was never a winning factor at a trip (5 ½ furlongs), which is way too short for Our Angel. The increase in real estate, is ideal for Our Angel, who will use her class and quality to notch another victory.
5 – Outbidder comes with a high price on her head and is just now coming to the fore. Won over six furlongs 14 days ago, and should put in a good shift without winning.
6 – Wowza has no realistic chance of winning.
