KINGSTON, Jamaica – For the second consecutive race day in 2023, former champion jockey Anthony will not be in the saddle, seemingly taking a break from the track.
Thomas and Dane Dawkins were locked in a race for 2022 championship honours with the latter winning that contest in the latter part of December to become a first-time champion jockey.
Since the start of this year, both riders have significantly reduced the number of rides, with Thomas missing two full days of riding, while Dawkins, has secured four rides on the Saturday card of January 14.
After two race days in the New Year, the early leader in the jockeys’ championship is Tevin Foster. Thus far, Foster has won four races from a total of 10 rides. He is followed by Reyan Lewis, Roger Hewitt, Omar Walker, and Ramon Nepare with two wins each.
