KINGSTON, Jamaica - While the 2022 racing season didn’t flash the numbers he would have liked, trainer Michael Marlowe says he is expecting a better showing from his stables in 2023.
Marlowe saddled two winners on the last day of 2022, to end with 16 winners.
The Marlowe winners were JNR Jones (Dane Dawkins), and Ras Emanuel (Omar Walker).
"It is a great feeling to end the year on a high with two winners on the programme. I mean, it has been a rough early part of the season for us at the stables, but the latter part of the season, the stables came alive with the horses running well, Marlowe said.
"We are happy that we closed the year well, and so we are hoping that we can get off to a good start. Sixteen winners for the year is not bad. The last part of the year has given us a boost as it has been tough, but we are putting it together and hoping for a better 2023," he said.
Marlowe said that his stables will be working overtime to have a successful 2023 racing season.
"It [last season] could have been a lot better, but we didn’t have the horses to achieve much, but we are grateful for what we have accomplished. For this season, though, we have a couple of young horses, not plenty, but we are dreaming big. They can write the ticket for us. I mean, they are Classic potential horses, and we are dreaming big for them," said Marlowe.
