KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh race on the Saturday card of Saturday, January 7, 2022, sees seven four-year-olds at the non-winners of two level pitted against each other going the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the winning chances of the seven entered is published below in draw order.
1 – FLY MESSENGER FLY faces the starter for the 31st occasion with little hope of earning her second victory, despite of late showing the tendency to do well over longer distances.
2 – SHE’S MY FRIEND cannot manage these.
3 – DON VINCENZO is catching the pace of non-two, finishing third at 7 ½ furlongs, 7 ½ lengths behind runaway winner Babaylike. Coming along nicely in the mornings, making him primed for a challenging effort. Don Vincenzo will play a major part in the outcome of this one.
4 – AMAD ALI is coming to grips with life at this level. Raced just 5 days ago over 6 ½ furlongs with the extension in the trip expected to enhance his chances of winning.
5 – DELAY THE GAME after an upset win on December 26, races in non-winners for the first time. Needs the experience.
6 – RORAIMA under new management following unsuccessful forays in the 2022, three-year-old Classic races, will have to wait in this encounter.
7 – LION OF EKATI has been knocking at the winners’ door for a while, always finding one of two better. The US-bred Lion of Ekati is always slowly out in his races, running on in the straight. This contest provides the best opportunity for this foreigner to score a victory on Jamaican soil.
