KINGSTON, Jamaica – The eighth event on the first race day of 2023, is an Overnight Allowance call in which nine horses are entered to run travelling the two turns of nine furlongs and 25 yards.

The analysis by The Quick Galloper is offered below for the scrutiny of Quickgallop.com readers.

– CRIMSON (7 bay gelding by Nuclear Wayne out of Sarah Barracuda) – Has been not been performing to his usual standard. Does possess the ability to rebound, and this may be his time.

– BIG BIG DADDY (6 dark bay horse by Natural Selection out of Just A Flutter) – Big Big Daddy has been heavily raced of late, always giving a true effort. This event is another in which Big Big Daddy will have to play second fiddle.

– LURE OF LUCY (5 bay mare by Uncle Lino out of Ring of Faith) – Just tagged at this same distance by Miniature Man on December 3. Then Lure of Lucy went to the lead, held her gallop well, and lost in the final stride. Expect much of the same on Monday.

– CHINAMAX (USA 7 chestnut horse by Itsmyluckyday out of Aweemaway) – Moving from claiming to Overnight on a regular basis. Again in Overnight, Chinamax will be found wanting.

– RING CHARMER (5 bay mare by Where’s The Ring out of Charming Beauty) – This imported in-utero mare has done well to reach this grade. Will now have to assimilate her new surroundings.

– D HEAD CORNERSTONE (4 bay colt by Bern Identity out of Soul of the Heart) – Slowly catching the pace of Overnight. This is another learning experience for D Head Cornerstone.

– SIR JOHN (5 bay gelding by Natural Selection out of Lucious) – Has no realistic chance of winning.

– HOVER CRAFT (13 bay gelding by He’stherealthing by Royal Pizzaz) – This is Hover Craft’s eleventh season of competitive racing. Has a distinctive preference for two turns, when he usually gives his best in the final two furlongs. Hover Craft will give of his usual best and is a deciding factor in this contest.

– POSITIVE ID (5 bay horse by Bern Identity out of Bubble Gal Bubble) – Has done extremely well in his three starts in Overnight. Positive ID finished third behind Miniature Man and Lure of Lucy. That run, Positive ID’s third in Overnight is the precursor for a winning effort.
