Title On The Reins Of Dane Dawkins

KINGSTON, Jamaica – With an advantage of four wins going into the last race day of 2022, Saturday, December 31, Dane Dawkins is on the cusp of becoming champion jockey for the first time in his career.

Dawkins’ joined a select band of riders to reach 100 wins in a single season when he won two races on (Tuesday, December 27, 2022). Those two wins allowed Dawkins to push to four wins ahead of his main rival reigning champion Anthony Thomas (96 wins).

While it is unlikely, Thomas still has a mathematical chance of retaining his title. To do so, he has to win a minimum of five races, and hope that Dawkins remains winless on the day.

To boost his cause, Thomas has acquired nine rides from the 10 races on offer (December 31), while Dawkins has eight mounts.
