KINGSTON, Jamaica – The best two-year-olds at this time of the year square off in the first major event for the juveniles, the 6-furlong Cash Pot ‘Only One For Me’ Trophy on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Caymanas Park. The Cash Pot is the seventh race on the day.
Six horses are entered in this contest which carries a total purse of $3,250,000.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S analysis is provided below in draw positions.
1 – MOJITO is a grey colt (March 26) by Savoy Stomp out of Fiftyshadesofray trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins aboard. Made a noticeable debut on October 16, when finishing second behind Mama Mia going five furlongs round. Mojito was running on, meaning the extra furlong will suit this grey colt.
2 – ROYAL ASH is a roan filly (February 24) by Fearless Vision out of Greek Goddess trained by Anthony Nunes with Reyan Lewis aboard. Royal Ash was left behind Thalita and stablemate Legit Boss at 5 ½ furlongs. Then Royal Ash raced behind, showing no progress in the final furlong. The extension of the trip is not going to aid his cause.
3 – LEGIT BOSS is a bay filly (February 20) by Casual Trick out of Bilingual trained by Anthony Nunes with Dick Cardenas holding the reins. Was victorious in the first two-year-old race of the season in August. In her last effort on October 8, Legit Boss led from the gates opened but was snared in the final half-a-furlong by Thalita. On Saturday, Legit Boss goes half a furlong longer, and Thalita is again present. Note, Legit Boss races with the tongue tie on.
4 – MAMA MIA is a chestnut filly (February 26) by Soul Warrior out of Princess Geeta trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen aboard. Made an exciting entrance to her racing career 13 days ago going five furlongs round. Mama Mia was easy in her debut victory, and can only improve. She will probably set the early fractions for her stable companion Thalita.
5 – SHOW GIRL is a bay filly (April 9) by Northern Giant out of Thegirlnextdoor trained by Jason DaCosta with Roger Hewitt riding.
6 – THALITA is a chestnut filly (February 26) by Soul Warrior out of Luminious Triste trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas aboard. The only one in this event to win two races. In her last outing, Thalia rallied strongly to nip Legit Boss at 5 ½ furlongs. Now going longer, Thalita should make it win number three.
