KINGSTON, Jamaica – The days are numbered for the lot of three-year-olds as the racing year comes closer to an end.
The difference in purse money between winning a three-year-old maiden contest as against winning a four-year-old maiden race is huge, with trainers trying their best to gain a three-year-old maiden victory by the end of each season.
Nine three-year-olds are entered in Saturday’s maiden event going six furlongs.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S assessment is provided below.
1 – AMAD ALI is a chestnut colt (March 7) by Traditional out of Adina trained by Gary Subratie with Shane Ellis in the saddle. Note, Amad Ali races with the visor on. Amad Ali has been working his way into view and with not much in terms of competition present, he has a real chance of topping this field.
2 – GOD OF THUNDER is a chestnut colt (February 16) by Strikewhileitishot – Lady Parbattie trained by Richard Phillipps with Jawani Forbes in the saddle. Note, God of Thunder races with the tongue tie on. Has been way off in his previous two races, that trend is going to continue.
3 – MICKEY C is a grey colt (April 11) by Savoy Stomp out of Miss Lee trained by Alford Brown with Youville Pinnock aboard. Note, Mickey C races with the visor on and the tongue tie off. Still learning his trade.
4 – ASURETY is a chestnut gelding (March 9) by Perfect Curlin out of Sure To Come trained by Edward Stanberry with Marshall Porter aboard. Note, Asurety races with the figure 8 off. Continues to disappoint, no change is expected.
5 – FRIENDOFTHEFAMILY is a grey gelding (April 27) by Here Comes Ben out of Win Bracelet trained by Steven Todd with Jemar Jackson on board. Finding his way slowly, with a place on the board the best bet.
6 – STORM A COME is a bay colt (March 9) by Storm Craft out of Terra Marique trained by Patrick Lynch with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Getting closer with the perfect opportunity now presenting itself. Allows weight across the board, which is the only possible hindrance for Storm A Come.
7 – SARGE IN CHARGE is a bay gelding (March 12) by Nasheet out of Aunt Hilda trained by Phillip Lee with Andre Powell aboard. Does not have a reasonable chance of winning.
8 – GIVEMETHELIGHT is a grey colt (March 9) by Nasheet out of Skipping Sue trained by Gary Griffiths with Nicholas Hibbert aboard. The reduction in the trip will assist Givemethelight in his effort to get a place in the top four.
9 – JOE is a chestnut colt (April 21) by Legal Process out of Lady Jameela trained by Michael Marlowe with Linton Steadman in the saddle. Joe has shown a glimpse of form and may surprise.
