KINGSTON, Jamaica – Foreigner Jordon Reign’s continued his impressive progression with a convincing victory against Open Allowance | Graded Stakes company at six furlongs on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
The Ian Parsard trainee with this win brought his race record to five wins from seven starts, with the Saturday success being his first effort in the Open Allowance | Graded Stakes category.
The final time recorded was 1:12.3, slower than anticipated, yet it was fast enough on a race track that was recently re-sanding.
Jordon Reign’s winning effort was aided by the light impost of 109 lb (49.5 kgs), with the four-year-old bay gelding getting 2 lb from second-placed Lure of Lucy and all of 16 lb from Duke, the third-place finisher. Lure of Lucy finished 2 ¾ lengths behind Jordon Reign’s, while Duke was almost five lengths adrift.
Even with those considerations, the win by Jordon Reign’s underlined his class and his ability as a come-from-behind sprinter. The racing record of Jordon Reign’s indicates that the longest journey he has undertaken thus far is 6 ½ furlongs, with two of his five wins coming at five furlongs straight and two at 5 ½ furlongs.
However, the way Jordon Reign’s delivered on Saturday, moving away in the last half-a-furlong is characteristic of a campaigner with the growing possibility of being successful at longer distances in the future.
Jordon Reign’s has been sparingly raced by his conditioner, which might be an indication that he has his issues, limiting his competitive appearances.
Jordon Reign’s has now bolstered the stock in the highest rank, lending for more exciting racing in the future.
