KINGSTON, Jamaica - FOUR-YEAR-OLD chestnut filly She’s My Destiny, from the stables of Jason DaCosta, returned from a four-month break to easily brush aside rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Restricted Overnight Allowance event on Sunday, July 10, 2022. She’s My Destiny defeated rivals in a dominating 8½-length win in the 5-½ furlong (1,100m) contest.
Ridden by champion jockey Anthony Thomas, She’s My Destiny, who finished in fourth place during both of her previous starts at this level, wasn’t off to her usual fast start but was coupled up quickly and surged to the front at the 5-furlong (1,000m) point.
The speedster then began to open up on the chasing Big Big Daddy (Dane Dawkins), Versatile Vision (Tevin Foster), and the The Good Witch (Dick Cardenas) navigating the half-mile turn and into the lane.
With no challengers around in deep stretch, She’s My Destiny just went about her business, reaching the wire in a time of 1:06.0 ahead of The Good Witch and Azaria (Aaron Chatrie).
Bred by Bern Identity out of the Traditional mare Woman Is Boss, She’s My Destiny was winning for the fifth time from eight career starts.
DaCosta said he was pleased with his charge’s effort and is looking forward to a bright future from She’s My Destiny.
“It was a very good performance; I mean 1:06.0 on this track is a pretty good time given the fact that the track was recently re-sanded and upgraded. She [She’s My Destiny] came off a layoff and so it was a very good performance.
“Well, she is eligible for another Overnight Allowance race and so we will run her in another race at the level and then she will step up from there. The hope as always is that this talented filly will stay fit and well,” DaCosta said.
