KINGSTON, Jamaica – The second race of ten on the Saturday card of July 9, is a three-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) for locally bred horses, and for three and four-year-olds (non-winners of four - foreigners) contest going 5 ½ furlongs.
1 – Emperorofthecats is a bay gelding (March 1) by Emperor Hall out of Laws of the Cat trained by Carl Anderson with Shane Ellis in the saddle. Raced seven days ago in the 10-furlong St Leger. This is fast turnover for Emperorofthecats, yet with a moderate set of rivals, this quick return should not impair the chances of this gelding. Plus, the shorter distance will be to his advantage.
2 – Luksol is a bay filly (USA March 2) by Tapiture out of Stunning Taste trained by Jason DaCosta with Omar Walker in the saddle. The form of this filly has been a topsy turvy one. The best that can be expected especially with Emperorofthecats and stablemate Madlyn’s Sunshine in the line-up is a place on the board.
3 – Run Puncher is a chestnut gelding (February 28) by Soul Warrior out of Miss Angeline trained by Richard Azan with Delroy Beharie in the saddle. Not given much of a chance.
4 – Madelyn’s Sunshine is a dark brown filly (USA January 22) by Joe Son’s Joey) trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. This foreigner has raced twice and has won twice. She was scratched from her last race on June 19 but has since been working well at exercise. Madelyn’s  Sunshine is well poised to make it three wins in succession.
5 – Power Ranking is a bay colt (March 8) by Casual Trick out of Escandalosa trained by Ricard Azan with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Returns from a break of 91 days in good nick having put in some good spins at exercise. Power Ranking has won two races from five starts, with both those wins coming down the five-straight course. Now, he has a good opportunity of making it three.
6 – Awesome Rich is a bay colt (April 30) by Northern Giant out of Awesome Camille trained by Steven Todd with Jemar Jackson in the saddle. This colt is racing for the first time in non-three and will learn from the experience.
Yellowstone – is a chestnut gelding (May 6) by Sensational Slam out of Awry trained by Alford Brown with Dick Cardenas in the saddle. Was way down the line in the 2000 Guineas but returns to his rightful grouping and with a break of 34 days and has worked well, Yellowstone can make it win number three.
