Overcomes injury issues to score his fifth win

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Race Car returned to action from a lengthy lay-off due to a bone injury, and on his second trip since returning, in late February, visited the winners' enclosure after achieving victory by a neck in a three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance call over 1000 metres round at Caymanas Park on Sunday, March 12.
The five-year-old roan/grey speedster bred and owned by Richard Lake and trained by Spencer Chung seems to have recovered well from his injury and completed the five-furlong distance in a tidy 1:00.3 seconds under regular jockey Dane Nelson with aiding split fractions of 23.1, 46.2 seconds.
The consistent runner bred by Race Day out of Duffie has now chalked up five wins from his seven starts with one second-place finish and a fourth finish.
“Coming from a long lay-off with a win is pleasantly fulfilling as a winning effort is always a fabulous experience when recovering from a bone injury, and all that is always a comforting situation.
"We do not want to rush him back into anything too strenuous. We will work with what we have for the time being until we are satisfied, he is properly mended and can be stretched out unhurriedly,” said trainer Chung.
