Seven runners face the starter at 6 furlongs

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Another three-year-old maiden race will be contested on Ash Wednesday (March 2, 2022) at six furlongs.

On this holiday occasion, seven maidens go to the starting gates.

In post-position order, the seven runners are analysed.

1 - INFINITO is a bay filly by Silent Valor out of Salino trained by Winchester McIntosh. Infinito has raced seven times hitting the board once when finishing fourth. Will not be a factor.

2 - FUNOMETER is a dark bay colt by Traditional out of Opulent trained by Anthony Nunes. Followed two unplaced efforts by finishing third on February 13 behind Goliath The Great and Bugatti. Expect Funometer to hit the board once more.

3 - GET A PEPSI is a chestnut colt by Blue Pepsi Lodge out of Getupstandup trained by Patrick Fong. Has raced once and was way behind Goliath The Great, and is not expected to rattle the principals.

4 - ASURETY is a chestnut colt by Perfect Curlin out of Sure To Cure trained by Anthony Nunes. Asurety has raced once finishing third behind Brompton Alex and Prince Sanjay, at five furlongs straight. That third-place result was attained by Asurety after breaking slow and then running on strongly in the straight. With the distance longer on Ash Wednesday, Asurety has a good chance of winning.

5 - BLUE VINYL is a chestnut colt by Bern Identity out of Blufield trained by Patrick Lynch. First time Lasix. Blue Vinyl has done well in his two outings to date and now with the introduction of Lasix a closer run is on the cards.

6 - SIR TAJAY is a bay colt by Traditional out of Lastochka trained by Steven Todd. Experienced with seven races under his girth. As yet, Sir Tajay has not shown anything of significance.

7 - RUM PUNCHER is a chestnut gelding by Soul Warrior out of Miss Angeline trained by Richard Azan. Blinkers and tongue tie are on. Rum Puncher finished second behind Berning Red at seven furlongs making 6 ½ to his liking, and with his trainer putting on the blinkers and the tongue tie, this gelding can easily go one better.
