Power ride by Robert Halledeen
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Generational after being claimed for $550,000 on December 27, 2021, and having raced once at the Overnight Allowance level on January 30, 2022, when he finished fourth by 5 ¼ lengths, returned to the grade to score a rasping victory travelling 5 ½ furlongs. The race was run in honour of former champion trainer in Jamaica and Venezuela, Millard Ziadie.
With Robert Halledeen in the saddle for trainer Rowan Mathie, Generational was in the front end mix from early with Versatile Vision (Paul Francis), and Alexa’s Dream (Dane Dawkins).
Halledeen then decided to get closer at the home turn, straightening with the leading pack.
Then he had to pump as hard as he could as Omar Walker brought Ras Emanuel on the inside rails. In a stirring duel, Generational held on to win by a short head over Ras Emanuel with Versatile Vision a neck behind Ras Emanuel.
The winning time was 1:07.0.
