Importee has no issues with the turns today
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a compelling run Excessive Force racing without the visor on and making the turns without going wide romped to victory in the Caymanas Saturday eighth.
Trained by Philip Feanny with Linton Steadman doing the riding honours, Excessive Force was victorious in an Overnight Allowance call for three-year-olds and upwards horses going the two turns of nine and a half furlongs.
Before the starter touched his go button, it was announced that the 3-5 favourite Big Jule (Omar Walker) had lost his tongue tie but trainer Ian Parsard permitted the bay colt to race without the equipment.
It was frantic movement on the headlines when the race eventually got underway with Money Monster, Curlin’s Affair (Robert Halledeen), Big Jule, and Excessive Force all lumped together.
The lead changed many times while the horses raced on the backstretch, but with three furlongs left Big Jule made his move, and as he did so, Steadman prompted Excessive Force to go forward as well.
With Excessive Force having a slim advantage entering the straight, and importantly, not going wide, the writing was on the wall for the other six starters.
Excessive Force quickened impressively to win by 3 ¾ lengths over Big Jule with Crimson (Dane Dawkins) third.
The winning time was 2:01.4.
