4-5 favourite Dezzy The Genius finishes second
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A strong and determined front running effort by Nuclear Emma broke the tide of odds on favourites obliging in the Caymanas Saturday third. The first two races on the programme were won by Chief of State at 2-5 and Runaway Algo at 1-9.
Starting at odds of 8-1, in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claimer ($550,000 - $450,000), going seven furlongs, Nuclear Emma with Paul Francis in the saddle for trainer Donovan Plummer, was quick to challenge early leader Diosa de Oro (Garfield Gordon) with 4-5 on Dezzy The Genius (Robert Halledeen) looking easy in third place.
After two furlongs were done with, Nuclear Emma took over and although persistently tested by Dezzy The Genius, the six-year-old mare held her gallop to score by 2 ½ lengths.
Dezzy The Genius was second and Diosa de Oro third.
