Double for Samantha, 100 wins for Tevin Foster
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The racing card on Sunday was dominated by the mandatory payout in the popular Reggae 6 wager. A total of $15.5 million went into the Reggae 6 pool on the day, for an overall jackpot total of just over $19 million.
After the six races were complete three erudite punters each collected $6,468,902. THE QUICK GALLOPER CONGRATULATES THE THREE WINNERS!
THE HORSES
THE QUICK GALLOPER continues the vigil of watching the progress of the three-year-olds, plus Secret Identity delivers a fast time going 5 ½ furlongs.
In the fourth race the consistency and perseverance of the Gresford Smith trained Nomoredeals, a three-year-old chestnut colt by Soul Warrior out of Thornhill Miss, was demonstrated as after losing by a head in his last outing, regrouped to shed the maiden tag.
This was an encouraging run by Nomoredeals, not one which set the pigeons flying, but with no distinct leader among the colts and geldings three-year-old cohort, there is still space for Nomoredeals.
Racing for the first occasion at the Overnight Allowance Secret Identity (Bern Identity – Pomeroy’s Secret) dispatched rivals with predictable ease. The final time for 5 ½ furlongs of 1:06.1 gave further evidence that this four-year-old will race competitively and will win quickly in Open Allowance.
Credit to trainer Tensang Chung for his conditioning of this filly.
JOCKEYS
Jockeys Dane Dawkins and Samantha Fletcher both rode doubles on the day, with Dawkins moving to the top of the jockeys’ championship with 10 winners in the championship.
Of note, is that second in the championship, Robert Halledeen with nine wins since the start of the year was winless on Sunday.
A special mention is made of Tevin Foster, who reached the landmark of 100 winners.
