A big field of 12 faces the starter

KINGSTON, Jamaica – More and more three-year-olds are finding their way in competitive races as they continue the march towards the Classic races.

The Sunday race day of January 30, carries a three-year-old Maiden Special Weight in which 12 horses including four first-time starters are entered. The distance of this contest is 6 ½ furlongs.

THE QUICK GALLOPER analyses the chances of all 12 runners in the order they will leave their starting barriers.

1 – OOH SO LONG: (3 b f by Force De Jour – Oolong) – Has raced twice before without exhibiting a shred of form. Races with the cheek pieces on and first-time Lasix.

2 – RUM PUNCHER: (3 ch g by Soul Warrior – Miss Angeline) – Brings experience to the field with his three starts but that will not be enough.

3 – KING RIC: (3 b c by Greenpointcrusader – Little Jennie) – King Ric begins his racing career, so it is a wait-and-see game.

4 – PRINCE SANJAY: (3 ch c by Emperor Hall – Dalla Fifty) – Finished third behind Pip and Nomoredeals on January 15 to advertise his form. Prince Sanjay races with the cheek pieces on and is set to give a good account of himself. Prince Sanjay is given a chance of winning.

5 – EL CID: (3 ch c by Soul Warrior – Wap) – From the stables of champion Anthony Nunes, El Cid makes his first race day appearance. The word on El Cid is that he is of ability and that will be seen on Sunday but must be given time.

6 – NOMOREDEALS: (3 ch c by Soul Warrior – Thornhill Miss) – The most experienced of the lot with three starts to his credit. Nomoredeals was nicked on the line by Pip after a fierce duel in the straight. In that duel, Nomoredeals looked green, and, now with that experience gained, he is set for a winning effort.

7 – SUNSET SILHOUTTE: ( 3 b f by Northern Giant – Ahwhofah) – This well-bred filly has yet to display anything of worth in her two career starts. Sunset Silhoutte seems to be coming on at exercise and is expected to finally give a performance befitting of her lineage. A good effort is expected from Sunset Silhoutte.

8 – COTTERWOOD KATHY: (3 gr f by Midnight Hawk – Princess Shaniel) – Has raced once, finishing down the track. Time is required.

9 – MASTERCLASS: (3 b g by Casual Trick – Awesome Destiny) – Two starts with nothing to show.

10 – ASURETY: (3 ch c by Perfect Curlin – Sure To Cure) – First-time starter who must be given time.

11- DEVONTE: (3 gr c by Fearless Vision – Eighteen Karat) – Was a late non-starter when first declared to start in November of last year. Devonte will have to show more to get support.

12 – FUNOMETER: (3 dkb c by Traditional – Opulent) – This chestnut colt has raced once finishing eight lengths behind Awesome Rich. On Sunday, Funometer races with both the tongue tie and cheek pieces on. Should be watched.

  1. I love the information on first time runners and who are the previous runners from the same dam line. This is a very good addition to the site. Very much appreciated. Please continue to share this information.

I would also love to see information on new starters who were sired by horses who raced at Caymanas such as Emperor Hall, Buzz Nightmare, MisMyrtleboyrichie and War Marshall as well as for local bred sires such as Wow Wow when the commence their racing career.
