She’s My Destiny, Outbidder show their potential
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Sunday programme of January 16, 2022, served-up two performances that caught the attention of pundits. The two horses involved are SHE’S MY DESTINY and OUTBIDDER both from the camp of trainer Jason DaCosta.
SHE’S MY DESTINY
This four-year-old chestnut filly by BERN IDENTITY out of WOMAN IS BOSS was racing for the fifth occasion and was winning for the fourth time. On Sunday, SHE’S MY DESTINY strolled seven furlongs in 1:25.1, which continued her clicking affair with the clock, having dashed 6 ½ furlongs in 1:17.2 with splits of 23.3 x 46.3 x 1:10.3 on her last race day appearance. For her Sunday seven furlongs, SHE’S MY DESTINY without any pressure whatsoever ran the same splits according to the official timekeepers.
On the breeding side, the dam side of SHE’S MY DESTINY – WOMAN IS BOSS is by TRADITIONAL out of SHE’S ON WHEELS, with the latter being a renowned campaigner in the top class years ago.
SHE’S MY DESTINY, who has now reached the grade of Overnight Allowance, is tickling the clockers with her speed, but truth be told, she has not had stiff opposition to deal with in her four wins. Her only loss came on June 26, when finishing fourth (7 ½ furlongs) behind ONE DON, HOIST THE MAST, and ELITIST. This is probably an indication that SHE’S MY DESTINY is mainly a sprinter whose best journey is shaping up to be anywhere from five furlongs to seven furlongs.
SHE’S MY DESTINY must have had some issues as a three-year-old as she did not appear in the Classic races, and has been gingerly raced by DaCosta. The trainer has taken his time with SHE’S MY DESTINY, probably knowing that he has a talented horse in his care and is making sure his filly is kept fit, healthy, and proper during her racing career.
A lot of eyes will be trained on SHE’S MY DESTINY, and for the sake of the higher grades, racing in general, and to her connections, let us hope, she continues to grow, and prosper.
OUTBIDDER
Everyone in racing and its close environs knows that OUTBIDDER – a three-year-old bay filly by SAVOY STOMP out of RUMBLE was purchased in the Yearling Sale for $6.1 million.
On her first outing in December of last year, OUTBIDDER finished fourth behind foreigners RUNAWAY ALGO and LUKSOL with local bred PIP third. Of the trio behind RUNAWAY ALGO, PIP and OUTBIDDER, have gone on to score their maiden victories.
That first win by OUTBIDDER (Jan 15) was over six furlongs among fillies only, with a clocking of 1:13.3 and splits of 23.0 x 47.2.
OUTBIDDER is a big filly in size and based on how she picked up her gallop in the last furlong suggests that going longer than six furlongs will not be a serious issue.
Of interest is that more three-year-old fillies including the overall leader of that pack, GOLDEN WATTLE, the exciting ATOMICA, and now OUTBIDDER are coming to the fore. But that will be the subject of another article by THE QUICK GALLOPER.
