1-2 for trainer Fitzgerald Richards in St Catherine Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Fitzgerald celebrated his birthday in style when he completed a one-two finish with Patriarch (Dane Dawkins) and God of Love (Robert Halledeen) in the feature St Catherine Cup moments ago at Caymanas Park. The Catherine Cup was contested by six horses at the Open Allowance level going six furlongs.
The victory by Patriarch was the fourth ridden by Dane Dawkins, who has now assumed the lead in the jockeys’ championship.
When the gates opened, Nuclear Noon (Tevin Foster) stood his ground with Patriarch as expected shooting out in front followed by God of Love and Eagle One (Phillip Parchment).
Dawkins rated the speedy Patriarch well coming around the bend with God of Love creeping closer.
The next two furlongs became a battle of the stablemates, with God of Love at one point pushing his head in front but Dawkins dug deep and found extra in Patriarch, who managed to reassert himself close home to win by three parts of a lengths.
God of Love finished second with Eagle One in the third slot.
The final time was recorded at 1:13.0.
