Win at odds of 6-5 for trainer Gregory Forsyth

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Peking Cruz, ridden by the in-form Tevin Foster and trained by Gregory Forsyth got the 2022 Racing Year off to a winning start with victory in the Caymanas Saturday first.

The first race of the 2022 Racing Year was a three-year-old and upwards claiming ($1 million - $800,000) contest at 5 ½ furlongs.

It was the speedster Deep Blue Sea (Matthew Bennett), who blazed the early trail clocking 22.4 seconds for the first two furlongs followed by Peking Cruz and Crafty and Ready (Omar Walker).

Rounding the bend, Deep Blue Sea starting to pitch with Bennett having to hold on tight thereby dissipating all chances of winning. At this stage Peking Cruz took over and the former ‘A’ class campaigner galloped well in the straight to win by three lengths.

This was Peking Cruz’s 11th win from 42 career starts.

Second was Crafty and Ready with Rohan Kabir (Robert Halledeen) third.
