First Classic (1000 Guineas) on June 4, Derby on August 6
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The racing calendar for 2022 is out and pending any changes, which may occur during the course of the year, there will be 89 scheduled race days.
Of primary concern to most are the dates of the Classic races. The first Classic race in 2022 will be the 1000 Guineas for fillies only on Saturday, June 4, followed by the 2000 Guineas for colts and geldings one day later on Sunday, June 5.
The Jamaica St Leger (10 furlongs) is on Saturday, July 2 and the big one, the Jamaica Derby (12 furlongs) will be contested on Independence Day, Saturday, August 6.
In 2021, there were also 89 race days.
