KINGSTON, Jamaica – Starting the 11-race Boxing Day card $745,895 (official figures) behind leader Jason DaCosta, champion trainer Anthony Nunes reduced that amount by $273, 000 (figures in official race book). DaCosta’s lead is now $273,000.

This reduction by Nunes came as a result of the victory by his trainee General Mubaraak ridden by claiming apprentice Carlos Blake in the Caymanas Boxing Day first.

Racing at odds of 3-5, Blake waited for about a furlong and a half before sending General Mubaraak to the lead and thereafter was never in danger of losing, winning by 5 ½ lengths. Reasons (*Roger Hewitt) finished second with Powerful Red (Nicholas Hibbert) third.

The event was a five-year-old and upwards Optional Claimer ($180,000 - $150,000) at 6 ½ furlongs.

Blake was aboard his second winner in 2021.
