KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Dick Cardenas is recuperating in hospital after falling off De Inevitable during the fourth race on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
After doing X-RAYS on Monday, December 20, 2021, and receiving the results, the day after, the doctor treating Cardenas informed that he had damage to his ribs and lungs. Cardenas was on the same day admitted to hospital for treatment.
A family member of Cardenas told this website that the jockey was in a good mood and responding well to treatment and is expected to be out of his hospital bed in a day or two.
Cardenas is currently second in the jockeys' championship behind Anthony Thomas. Cardenas has ridden 59 winners.
