Slamsilano a winner with equipment change
Running with the tongue tie on, the Robert Pearson-trained Slamsilano just did enough to win a native-bred three-year-old maiden condition contest over seven furlongs (1,400m).
Slamsilano, with Romario Spencer in the saddle, shot to the front ahead of Itz What Itz (Robert Halledeen) and Miss HJF (Oneil Mullings).
Leaving the half-mile, Slamsilano increased his lead ahead of rivals and looked a comfortable winner turning for home. However, inside the final stages of the race, Slamsilano began to shorten but did enough, holding on by a head from the fast-finishing Miss HJF with Itz What Itz third. The final time was 1:30.2.
Sniper Man gets home with equipment change
After finishing 11th by over 20 lengths on last going six furlongs, Sniper Man returned to the races with the cheek pieces on and comfortably won a four-year-old and upwards Restricted Allowance V event at 5 ½ furlongs.
Sniper Man (Omar Walker) was the last to leave the starting gates but the Lorenzo Robinson trainee took his time to find his footing. Jon P (Shane Ellis) led the field ahead of Nina Dorada (Paul Francis) and Cup A Soup (Anthony Thomas).
Turning for home Jon P was on top but Walker produced his mount for an effort and Sniper Man came with a strong run to win by 1 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:09.3. Jon P was second and Cup A Soup third.
Twelve horses claimed
The claiming box was busy 12 horses were claimed on nine race card.
In the first race, Phillip Elliott claimed Cat's Rigger for himself from Lance Richards, Ryan Williams claimed The Nextbigting for himself from Collin Blair, and Nicholas Smith claimed Synchronize for himself from Dale Murphy. All horses in the first were claimed for $180,000 each.
In the second, Lawrence Freemantle claimed winner Versatile Vision for owner Soldier Camp from Anthony Nunes, Joseph Thomas claimed San Siro for owner Big Dee Racing Stable from Welsh Soutar, Michael McIntosh claimed Stallwalkin'girl for himself from Delroy Waugh, Roy Matthews claimed Lazer Light for owner Mark Perry, and Ryan Williams claimed Special Counsel for owner The Hustler from Errol Subratie. All horses from the second race were claimed for $550,000 each.
In the fifth race, Errol Pottinger claimed Rockdale for owner Zelmuna from Patrick Fong, Nicholas Smith claimed Danceallnight for owner Rosdore from Phillip Elliott, Gordon Lewis claimed Balazo for owner Preston Munroe from Steadman Curtis, and Dennis Pryce claimed Union Four for owner Busy Racing Stable from Ralph Porter. All horses were claimed for $250,000.
