KINGSTON, Jamaica – It took a last gasp effort from Slamsilano (Romario Spencer) to win his first race – a maiden three-year-old call at seven furlongs, which was the Caymanas Sunday third.

Slamsilano trained by Robert Pearson took the lead coming from the outside draw in a field of seven runners chased by Itz What Itz (Robert Halledeen) with Miss HJF (Oneil Mullings) racing in third.

Spencer after going by the four-furlong post let out a notch as Slamsilano moved away from rivals to enter the lane for the final two furlongs with a clear advantage.

In the final furlong Slamsilano started to weaken as Miss HJF (on the inside) mounted a serious and persistent challenge.

In the final hop, Slamsilano and Spencer, who lost his whip with about half a furlong left, lasted by a head. Itz What Itz finished third.
