KINGSTON, Jamaica – Barbados based Jamaican trainer Andrew Nunes, the elder brother of current local champion Anthony, celebrated Triple Crown glory when his charge People’s Champ won the 82nd running of Barbados Derby at the Garrison Savannah on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
The two brothers Andrew (Busha) and Anthony (Baba) now hold the distinction of winning the Triple Crown series of races, the former in Barbados and the latter in Jamaica (2019) with Supreme Soul.
People’s Champ ridden to victory by Rasheed Hughes, became the first horse to complete the Triple Crown feat in Barbados since Are You Talking To Me in 2009.
