KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Phillip Parchment won the last race yesterday (Sat, Oct 30, 2021) on Iannai Links, and he continued where he left off by winning the Caymanas Sunday first on the Adin Williams trained War of the Roses. War of the Roses was successful in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two call) at a mile.

Parchment was not perturbed as Daytona Belle (Oshane Nugent) set the early splits. Coming to the four-furlong marker Silent Cat (Anthony Thomas), the 1-5 favourite, pushed through and from then it was a two-way battle for the lead.

Close to entering to lane for the final two furlongs, Parchment in his bustling style got War of the Roses closer to the front two.

Thomas then switched Silent Cat from the middle of the track to the inside to challenge Daytona Belle, with the latter still galloping resolutely. Then Parchment increased the tempo on War of the Roses (on the outside), and the four-year-old bay colt went by easily winning by 5 ¼ lengths.

Silent Cat was second and Daytona Belle third.

War of the Roses was Parchment’s 13th winner this season.
