KINGSTON, Jamaica – Leading jockey Anthony Thomas notched his first winner in the Caymanas Monday third aboard the Roy Matthews trained Thunderstrike.

Thunderstrike success was achieved in a five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) call at seven furlongs.

Jumping out of the gates in front Thunderstrike was rapidly passed by It’sabeautifulday (Odeen Edwards) and by Fabulosity (Nicholas Hibbert).

Edwards made a sharp move with It’sabeautifulday after leaving the four-furlong marker with Thunderstrike travelling well in fourth place.

In the stretch drive, It’sabeautifulday was the sole leader as Thomas changed course on Thunderstrike moving from the outside to the inside portion of the track.

With a furlong to go it was It’sabeautifulday looking all over the winner as Thomas was still pushing Thunderstrike.

In the final hop, Thunderstrike got up to nip It’sabeautifulday by a short head. It’s All I recovered from a poor start to finish third.
