KINGSTON, Jamaica – Six-year-old bay gelding Sir Puddington notched his fifth win from 43 career starts when he smashed rivals by 7 ¾ lengths in the Caymanas Saturday (October 9) first.

That fifth win by Sir Puddington, ridden by Andre Powell, trained by Donovan Plummer and starting at odds of 7-2 was achieved in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000 - $300,000) call at seven furlongs.

With Band of Gold declared a late scratch at the gates by the veterinarian on duty, Musketoon (Garfield Gordon) and Coralando (Daniel Satchell) vied for the early lead but after two furlongs were completed Sir Puddington surged from the outside to tackle Musketoon as Coralando backed out.

Thereafter the race became a contest between Sir Puddington and Musketoon until they turned for home, then it was the former who tore away from the pack while Musketoon faded.

Devine Lexie (Linton Steadman) ran on for second with Coralando finishing third. The 4-5 favourite in the event Miss Linda Wray was never in contention throughout the event.
