Sea Swan now a winner of three races

Four-year-old chestnut filly Sea Swan gave another strong performance on Saturday last to confirm her status as a fairly good sprinter in the making.
The Spencer Chung trainee came from off the pace, beating rivals by two lengths in a Restricted Allowance event for native-bred four-year-old and upward non-winners of three over 5 furlongs (1,000m).
The final time of 1:00.2 while slower than her last winning time of 59.3 was enough to demonstrate a likeness for the minimum sprint distance.
“It was an ok performance. Sea Swan ran well to win here today (Saturday) and I am pleased with the run overall. Well, she is a good sprinter and if I keep her at these distances Sea Swan will be alright.
“There are expectations but we will just take it day by day with her and see how things happen,” Chung offered in the winners’ enclosure.
At the off, Golden Destiny (Robert Halledeen) showed early on the lead over Jammin (Omar Walker) and company. As the field hit the half-mile (800m) marker, Golden Destiny and Dee Danger (Trevor Simpson) in a brief battle for the lead, began to open up on the field.
Dee Danger hit the front turning for home and looked strong in deep stretch but Chartie got Sea Swan in gear and the chestnut filly pounced on the inside rails for her run.
While gaining on Dee Danger in deep stretch, Sea Swan came across the leader before romping home easily in the end. Sea Swan then had to survive a steward’s inquiry to hold the victory.
Dee Danger held well for second place, with Jammin third and Storm Born (Anthony Thomas) fourth.
