KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Genesis produced a stout-hearted effort under the guidance of jockey Anthony Thomas to win the Caymanas Saturday sixth in a driving finish at odds of 6-1.
Trained by Steven Todd, The Genesis was victorious at the three-year-old non-winners of two level.
When the starter sent off the 10 horses vying for top honours in this race, it was even money favourite Aphelios (Linton Steadman) and The Genesis rubbing shoulders for the lead.
After three furlongs were completed, The Genesis took over and carried the others into the lane with Aphelios still within striking distance and It’s A Boy Jordan Barrett gathering momentum on the inside rails.
The final furlong and a half saw none of the three giving away anything and in the final push to the winning post, it was The Genesis by a nose over Aphelios with the latter a neck ahead of It’s A Boy.
This was the second winner on the day for Thomas.
