KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a long break the Vincent Atkinson trained American bred filly Best Daughter Ever returned to the track in August and was a winner.
She returned again after that win in the Caymanas Saturday eighth going a mile in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of four) event at a mile with Javaniel Patterson on board and demonstrated her resilience and grit to make it two wins in succession.
Patterson put Best Daughter Ever in the lead and was first tackled by Let Him Fly (Anthony Thomas), with the latter backing off somewhat as SheBoom (Dick Cardenas) came through on the rails to attack Best Daughter Ever.
Best Daughter Ever put away SheBoom, while being rated well by Patterson but Let Him Fly returned with another challenge when they entered the straight.
Again the tough Best Daughter Ever was not in a giving up mood but there was more to come as Sencity (Tevin Foster) came a calling on the outside with a typical late surge.
However, Best Daughter Ever found much more and went on to win by three parts of a length. Sencity was second and Helicopter (Chalrick Budhai) third.
