Double for Linton Steadman as Coco Chanel obliges in Caymanas Saturday fifth

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Linton Steadman closed a double on the day when he piloted 5-2 chance Coco Chanel to victory in the Caymanas Saturday fifth at odds of 5-2.

Trained by Gregory Forsyth, Coco Chanel achieved her fifth career win from 35 starts in a claiming race ($550,000 - $500,000) at 7 ½ furlongs.

When the starter let them go, Coco Chanel and Summer Sun (Anthony Thomas) when the first two out of the their starting stalls. The two exchanged turns on the headlines way ahead of the rest of the pack until rounding the half-mile turn when Coco Chanel pulled away to established a two to three length advantage..

Summer Sun rallied coming in the straight and then reinvigorated his challenge but Steadman, enjoying his best spell in a long while, using mainly his hand, got Coco Chanel to give more and the mare ran out the winner by two lengths. Summer Sun was second and Miss Linda Wray third.
