KINGSTON, Jamaica – From the start of the Caymanas Saturday second it was a straight duel between the 4-5 favourite Blood Fire (Andre Powell) and Funky Fashion (Dane Dawkins 8-5), with the former winning by a head.
The Caymanas Saturday second was for horses – five-year-old and upwards (Restricted Allowance V) going one mile or 1600 metres.
Blood Fire and Funky Fashion (on the inside) vied for the lead with neither giving anything away.
In the stretch drive, it was Blood Fire who took over on the outside as Funky Fashion appeared beaten with Doctor Grey (Javaniel Patterson) threatening on the wide outside.
Funky Fashion, however, found some more in the last half-a-furlong and challenged again forcing Powell on Blood Fire to push even harder to gain the victory by a short margin. Doctor Grey finished third.
