KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champion trainer Andrew Nunes notched a quick double with Devine Lexie coming good at odds of 6-1 in the Caymanas Saturday third.

It was also a long overdue return to the winners’ enclosure for jockey Kiaman McGregor on Devine Lexie, who was winning a five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of 3) event at 6 ½ furlongs.

The early leaders were Acapella (Jordan Barrett), and Thepowersthatbe (Dick Cardenas) with Mamasharondarling (Oneil Mullings) following. At this stage Devine Lexie and Fighting Valbee (Roger Hewitt) were at the back of the field with the latter recovering from a poor start.

The leading pair of Acapella and Thepowersthatbe took the field into the straight with Mamasharondarling taking the run on the inside.

Mamasharondarling took over but as soon as she did both Devine Lexie and Fighting Valbee came a calling with the former pulling away for the victory. Fighting Valbee was second with Mamasharondarling third.

McGregor was winning his fourth race this season.
