KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Paul ‘Country’ Francis reminded racing fans that he is still around and in good nick when he guided Anngelos to victory in the Caymanas Wednesday (Aug 25) first.

Angellos, trained by Lawrence Freemantle got her second win from nine career starts in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) event at 7 ½ furlongs.

After quickly vying for the lead when the gates opened, Francis took Anngelos off the pace allowing Lady Bastipur (Roger Hewitt) and Dor The Butcher (Matthew Bennett) to set the splits.

Lady Bastipur gave way after leaving the half-mile pole as Dor The Butcher took over with Anngelos getting closer.

Coming into the straight for the final two furlongs, Dor The Butcher and Anngelos were together. When Francis asked the chestnut filly for a final effort Anngelos did so winning by five lengths.

Another Cookie (Dick Cardenas) ran on for second with Dor The Butcher in the third slot.

Anngelos was the 12th winner this season for trainer Lawrence Freemantle.
