KINGSTON, Jamaica – Contractor defied the norm by claiming victory from post position one coming down the five-straight course in the Caymanas Saturday fifth.
Contractor (Chris Mamdeen) was hustled out of the number one stall, trading early blows with Nuclear Thunder (Dane Nelson), while 3-5 favourite Princess Emanuelle (Jemar Jackson) was already in the mix on the outside rails.
Tacking across to mid-track Contractor with two furlongs to go, Contractor found his hoofs and powered away to win by four lengths in the three-year claiming ($750,000 - $600,000) call.
Princess Emanuelle finished second while Casual Affair took third.
