KINGSTON, Jamaica – A rather interesting offering is in the making when eight horses clash over 6 ½ furlongs at the Open Allowance level today (February 23) on the 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
The following is an analysis of the eight runners and their chances of winning.
1 – BIRDIE MY LOVE: (6.ch. m - Burning Marque – Bye Bye Birdie) – was just two lengths fourth behind Nuclear Flight (disqualified) over the five straight on February 13. The weights have not changed much since that race but going around the turn is going to favour Birdie My Love.
2 – SECRET TRAVELLER: (5.b. g – Traditional – Sea Traveller) – Still find his way at the Open Allowance level.
3 – PAKMAN: (5.b. h – Taqarub – Lady Jagrati - Still learning the trade in this class.
4 – ANOTHER BULLET: (7.b. h – Nasheet – Wisely Noted) - Defeated Nuclear Flight on last (Jan 12) at 5 ½ furlongs. Now Another Bullet with little change in the handicaps, meets Nuclear Flight again over trip a trip he is much better suited for. Another Bullet is a consistent and tough competitor and is now set for two consecutive wins.
5 – PRINCESS EMANUELLE: (6. ch. m – Traditional – Explosive Peak) - Should not figure prominently in this one.
6 – BIMINI: (7.ch. m – Seeking The Glory – Maria Elena) – Has been running consistently of late, winning over 5 ½ on last (Jan 19). Bimini is an out and out sprinter who might find 6 ½ furlongs a bit demanding but has been competing pretty well in this class and cannot be discarded from the reckoning.
7 – NUCLEAR FLIGHT: (4.dkb. f – Nuclear Wayne – City Flight) – Was a bit ragged on last when disqualified over her favourite 5 straight course. This is the first time that Nuclear Flight will be venturing further than five furlongs and this analyst prefers to wait and see how she performs going this far.
8 – SARATOGA SIGHT: (6.ch. h – USA – Tapit – Little Miss Holy) – Will be coming late in this race but might find 6 ½ furlongs a bit short but if the speeders falter, Saratoga Sight will be there to mop up.
