KINGSTON, Jamaica – Co-champion jockey Anthony Thomas was at his brilliant best aboard the Jason DaCosta trained Midnight Blue while winning the Caymanas Monday ninth.

Midnight Blue was successful in a Maiden Condition contest for three-year-old fillies only going a distance of six furlongs. The race was named after former trainer, owner and breeder, John Clifton Wright.

Midnight Blue came of her starting stall like a scared hare to take the lead but was quickly challenged by first timer Labycka (Shane Ellis) who travelling on the inside took over the lead.

At this stage, Thomas settled Midnight Blue, allowing Labycka to set the splits. Going around the final turn Thomas asked Midnight Blue to go and the filly said yes to enter the straight with a slight advantage.

Riding smoothly, Thomas kept Midnight Blue going yo win by ¾ length. Labycka was second and Hilly’s Vision (Chris Mamdeen) third.

The victory by Midnight Blue gave Thomas, DaCosta and owner Carlton Watson their second winner on the day.
