KINGSTON, Jamaica – Horses drawn at post-positions number 14, 13, 11, 12 finished first, second, third and fourth respectively in a five furlong straight offering which was the Caymanas Monday sixth. There were 14 starters in this race.
Number 14, Gentle Giant, who showed a return to form was the victor running from the number 14 starting stall in this three-year-old and upwards Restricted Allowance call for non-winners of two races.
With Dick Cardenas in the saddle for trainer Jason DaCosta, Gentle Giant was off and running with speed when the starter let them on their way.
Cardenas carried Gentle Giant away, just a bit, from the outside rails and was in control of proceedings with a furlong left to run.
King’s Magician (Dane Dawkins, drawn at 13, came charging home under the stand rails but Cardenas and Gentle Giant had done more than enough to secure victory by 1 1/14 lengths. Third went to Baton Rouge (Anthony Thomas) coming from the number 11 post-position.
The winning time was a fast 58.2 second with splits 22.2 x 45.0.
