KINGSTON, Jamaica – After three odds-on favourites obliged in the first three races, Innovator changed the that pattern when winning the Caymanas Monday fourth at odds of 31-1.
Innovator trained by Joseph Durrant and ridden by Youville Pinnock was victorious in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claimer ($550,000 - $500,000) non-winners of four offering over a distance of 6 ½ furlongs.
It did not take long for Innovator drawn at one to take the lead with Lightning McQueen (Orlando Foster) tracking closely on the outside.
These two moved away from the rest of the pack and entered the lane for the final two furlongs close by each other.
Galloping resolutely, Innovator pulled away to earn victory number four by two lengths. Lightning McQueen was second with Milkman (Tevin Foster) third.
